Photo Dr. James R. Samuel 
 
Dr. James R. Samuel is the founder and President of Interscope Consulting.  Working with leaders of Fortune 500 companies such as Food Lion as well as small not for profit organizations, he has helped managers and other employees effectively address issues related to diversity, employee relations, employee retention, strategic planning, oganizational change and leadership development.  
 
Dr. Samuel has been cited in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Charlotte Observer, Washington Minorities in Business Insiders, National Public Radio “Marketplace” and the United States Department of Justice “Weed and Seed” publication for his successful and innovative leadership. 
 
He received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, a Masters degree from Duke University in Durham, NC and a Doctorate from Drew University in Madison, NJ.  Dr. Samuel has served as the Administrative and Academic Dean of a graduate institution and has taught at several colleges and universities in the United States, the Caribbean and Africa. 
 
In addition to his academic experience, his corporate experience in the field of banking provides a diverse and well-balanced approach to his presentation style. 
 
Recognized both nationally and internationally, his powerful motivational and facilitation skills place him in great demand as a consultant, professor and speaker. 
 
Dr. Samuel is the author of the book, The Roots of Racism.
 
 
PhotoJan G. Barton, CPA
 
Ms. Barton is a Senior Consultant with Interscope Consulting.  During Ms. Barton’s career at Interscope, she has developed several model programs including a diversity initiative which was piloted by Wachovia Corporation, the St. Paul Insurance Companies and Food Lion.  In addition, she has designed programs for the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HOPE programs in Charlotte, NC and Durham, NC. 
 
She has served as a management consultant, senior administrator and Chief Financial Officer for colleges in North and South Carolina.  Her additional expertise includes financial analysis, budgeting and planning, and cash flow projections.
 
Ms. Barton received her B.A. in Accounting, with related fields in Organization Management and Psychology, from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC.
 
She is a member of the Management Consultant’s Service, National Consultants Network, National Association of Female Executives, American Institute of CPAs and SC Association of CPAs.
 
Her unique background in financial management, organizational management and psychology has placed her in demand as a consultant in change management and diversity.  
 
 
Associate Consultants
 
Stacy J. Pike, RN
 
Ms. Pike is an Associate Consultant with Interscope.  As a consultant with Interscope she has been instrumental in the development of workshop materials, experiential exercises and assessment tools for our healthcare clients as well as other service industry accounts.
 
Ms. Pike received her ASN degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. 
 
As a practitioner in the healthcare industry, Ms. Pike was an RN in the Recovery Room, Emergency Room and Operating Room.  Ms Pike has supervisory experience as a Departmental Nurse Manager of an operating room in a metropolitan area.   In addition to her hospital experience, she worked with administrative and non-clinical staff as a School Nurse.  Prior to receiving her nursing degree, she worked in hospital admissions and as a unit secretary.
 
In addition to her nursing experience, Ms. Pike has over 7 years of Human Resource experience with an emphasis in employee training and development.  She received training in Human Resources, Staff Development and Management at the University of Houston.
 
She is a member of the AORN (Association Operating Room Nurses), NCNA (North Carolina Nurses Association) and ASPSN (American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses).
 
 
Vannessa E. Torres
 
Ms. Torres is our newest Associate Consultant at Interscope Consulting, Inc.  She is already making an impact with our clients with her multicultural experiences.
 
Ms. Torres received her BA in Foreign Language Culture and Studies (concentration in Spanish) with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, NC.  She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
 
Her additional work experience includes serving as a Bilingual Research Specialist and Bilingual Service Representative.  Ms. Torres has taught English in Mexico and continue to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in the Charlotte, NC area.
